SMPTE ST 2110-30 is the audio part of the SMPTE ST 2110 suite, the standard for professional all-IP live production that replaced the single combined SDI cable with separate, synchronized streams for video, audio, and ancillary data over the network. The -30 document specifies how uncompressed PCM audio is carried, and it is built to be compatible with AES67 so the two ecosystems interoperate. Keeping audio in its own essence stream — rather than embedded in video as SDI did — lets engineers route, switch, and process audio independently with full flexibility. Sample-accurate alignment of those separate flows depends on a shared PTP clock. ST 2110 is the backbone of modern broadcast plants and live-production trucks.
