Bitmovin Analytics is the QoE arm of Bitmovin, the Austrian video-tech company best known for its commercial encoder and player products. Released in 2018, Bitmovin Analytics integrates as a player-side SDK that ships standardised playback events plus rich diagnostic data — segment-level download metrics, ABR algorithm decisions, decoder behaviour, error stack traces — to Bitmovin's backend. The dashboard then exposes both standard QoE metrics and deeper drill-down views.
The product's distinctive feature is the depth of per-session detail. Where Mux Data and Conviva focus on aggregate metrics and trends, Bitmovin Analytics often gives the most granular per-session timeline, useful for diagnosing why one specific user had a bad experience. This makes it popular with engineering teams that want to root-cause individual issues rather than just monitor aggregates.
Bitmovin Analytics works best when paired with Bitmovin's player, but the SDK is player-agnostic — it can attach to hls.js, Shaka, Video.js, AVPlayer or ExoPlayer through wrapper modules. Pricing is enterprise-tier but typically lower than Conviva. Customers include large publishers in Europe, several smaller US OTT services, and many of Bitmovin's existing encoder/player customers who add analytics as part of a full stack purchase.
